Tinsley’s Pier Portal (contrapuntal no. 2)

Neither horizon seemed real

                 rent by conflicting landscapes

through the rusted threshold

                 for one disquieting moment

her soldered wings opened

she turned her eyes from me

and pointed toward the sky.

The contrapuntal poem can be read as a single poem or two related poems in their distinct columns. It can be read backwards as one or two poems, or in a circular pattern, both clockwise and counterclockwise.
